Playing Music from a Sound Recording
If music is being played from a sound recording, for whatever reason, you must obtain a licence from PPL, in addition to your PRS for Music Church Licence.
The PPL represents the rights of performers and record companies.
You wll need to contact PPL direct at www.ppluk.com.
With the PPL you can:
- Play background music from a CD, DVD etc. (The PRS for Music is also required).
- Play music on listening posts. (The PRS for Music is also required).
- Play music in your shop at your customers request. (The PRS for Music is also required).
You do not need a PPL to show films or film clips, but will require a CVL and PRS for Music licence.
If you play music from a sound recording such as a cassette, CD or DVD, you may also need a PRS for Music Church Licence. More information is available here.
